Nigeria Mission

Since 2003, AEM has been involved in providing support for an orphanage in Gospel Village, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria that was founded and directed by Bishop Elijah Mboho.  At one time the orphanage accommodated approximately 900 children.  One of these children was found tied to a tree as a sacrifice and was rescued by a hunter and brought to the village. Others were not orphans, but had been deposited at the orphanage by parents who could not provide for their needs. Others were rescued before they could be violently killed along with their parents.  The children of the orphanage sometimes have one meal of rice, beans and cassava flour daily. Over the years, AEM has sent money monthly to help buy food.  AEM has also provided beds for some of the children. The orphanage also boasts a school up to High School level which is considered one of the best schools in the state.  AEM has helped to sponsor two teachers for a period. Sadly, the occupancy of the orphanage has since dwindled to half of the original number due to their inability to continue feeding such a large population.
